On Monday, November 21, there was a fatal pedestrian accident in Bakersfield.

According to Bakersfield police, the accident happened at around 6.00 a.m. n the 5100 block of the Stockdale Highway near New Stine Road. Jose Manuel Zaldua, aged 66, was driving his white gardening truck, but it stalled near the median at the intersection. He got out of the truck to try and fix the problem but was hit by another pickup truck, which was red, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The unidentified driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.

Westbound lanes of Stockdale Highway were closed after the incident for around two hours and although the roads were wet at the time, police do not think that the weather was a factor in the fatality.
